Overview

The 5-Day Marangu Route is the shortest and most affordable Kilimanjaro climbing option using the famous Marangu Route. Known as the “Coca-Cola Route,” it is the only route on Mount Kilimanjaro that offers mountain hut accommodation throughout the trek, providing additional comfort compared to camping routes. The trail passes through lush rainforest, moorland, alpine desert, and finally the arctic summit zone before reaching Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point.

This itinerary follows the same route as the 6-day climb but without an additional acclimatization day, making it best suited for climbers with previous trekking experience or those comfortable with higher-altitude ascents. The best climbing seasons are from January to March and June to October, when weather conditions are generally dry and visibility is excellent. Due to the faster ascent profile, the average summit success rate ranges between 55% and 70%.
