Meet your guide and travel toward Arusha National Park, watching the city gradually give way to the greener landscapes surrounding Mount Meru.
After park formalities, the day’s game viewing begins.
02 / INTO THE FOREST
Look Up.
Drive through the park’s forested landscapes where primates are among the characters worth watching for.
The dense vegetation creates a completely different safari atmosphere from Tanzania’s famous open plains.
03 / MOMELLA & THE OPEN COUNTRY
Let the Landscape Change.
Continue through more open areas around the Momella Lakes, scanning the landscape for giraffes, buffalo, zebra, antelope and birdlife.
On clear days, the surrounding mountain scenery becomes part of the experience.
04 / NGURDOTO CRATER
A Landscape Within the Landscape.
Visit viewpoints around the Ngurdoto Crater area and take in another of the park’s distinctive environments.
Rather than racing through the park ticking off species, give yourself time to appreciate how much the landscape changes within a relatively compact area.
05 / ONE LAST DRIVE
Back Toward Arusha.
Continue game viewing before leaving the park and returning to Arusha later in the day.

IS ARUSHA NATIONAL PARK A BIG FIVE DESTINATION?
This experience shouldn’t be sold as a Big Five safari. Its strength is the combination of scenery, varied habitats, giraffes, primates, buffalo and birdlife close to Arusha.
CAN I SEE MOUNT KILIMANJARO?
Views depend heavily on weather and visibility. Mount Meru is the dominant mountain landscape within the park, while Kilimanjaro may be visible from parts of the wider area when conditions are clear.
IS IT SUITABLE FOR A FIRST SAFARI?
Yes. It provides an accessible introduction to game viewing, although travellers seeking the classic big-cat and vast-plains experience should combine it with parks such as Serengeti, Tarangire or Ngorongoro.
