6 Days / 5 Nights

Hakuna Matata Safari Adventure

Hakuna Matata — Swahili for ‘no worries’ — is not merely a phrase; it is a philosophy of travel. This six-day safari is built on the belief that the finest wildlife experiences happen when you are unhurried, unworried, and fully present in the landscape around you. Every detail is handled by the JUA EXPLORER team so that your only responsibility is to look, listen, and absorb.

Spanning six days and five nights across four of Tanzania’s most iconic parks, the Hakuna Matata Safari is the definitive Northern Circuit experience. Lake Manyara, Ngorongoro, the Serengeti, and Tarangire are visited in sequence — a progression through ecosystems that builds steadily in scale and drama, culminating in the vast horizons of the Serengeti before concluding in the intimate elephant paradise of Tarangire.

Two consecutive days in the Serengeti are the centerpiece of this itinerary — essential time to properly explore a park that rewards patience with unforgettable predator encounters, sweeping migration sightings, and the kind of solitude that reminds you why Africa captures hearts permanently.

Starting Per Person
DAY 1: Arrival in Arusha — Welcome to Tanzania

Arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your Arusha lodge. Your JUA EXPLORER guide will meet you personally, conduct your safari briefing, and ensure you are entirely comfortable and informed before the journey begins. Dinner and overnight in Arusha.

1
DAY 2: Lake Manyara National Park — Green Wilderness

An ideal opening to any Northern Circuit safari, Lake Manyara is compact enough to feel intimate yet diverse enough to consistently surprise. The park is divided into distinct zones that your guide will navigate methodically: the cool fig forest teeming with primates, the open flood plains where buffalo and impala graze, the acacia woodland where tree-climbing lions rest in shade, and the shimmering alkaline lake that draws extraordinary concentrations of water birds.

The afternoon light at Lake Manyara is legendary among photographers: the quality of illumination as the sun descends toward the Rift Valley escarpment creates extraordinary conditions for wildlife photography. Overnight at a lodge with views across the Rift Valley.

2
DAY 3: Ngorongoro Crater — Natural Wonder of Africa

The drive to the crater rim takes you through the Ngorongoro Highlands — a landscape of rolling moorland, misty forest, and Maasai cattle herded by red-cloaked figures across the open veld. The first view of the crater is always a revelation, regardless of how many times one has seen it.

Inside the crater, the density and diversity of wildlife is almost overwhelming in its richness. Lions, the most conspicuous of Ngorongoro's predators, move across the grassland with extraordinary confidence — some prides here have lived within the crater for generations. The black rhinoceroses’ population, while small, is the most reliably viewed in East Africa. Elephant bulls of immense age and size patrol the crater floor. Overnight on the crater rim with views that extend for forty kilometres in every direction.

DAYS 4 & 5: Serengeti National Park — Endless Plains, Infinite Wildlife

The descent from the Ngorongoro Highlands onto the Serengeti Plains is one of Tanzania's great safari transitions — the land flattens, the sky expands, and the wildlife appears in increasing numbers as your vehicle moves deeper into the ecosystem. The Serengeti is vast and alive in a way that no other park quite matches.

Two full days here allow your guide to explore different zones of the park — the central Seronera Valley, renowned for its resident lion prides and reliable leopard sightings in the riverine trees; the open kopje country where cheetahs survey the plains from rocky vantage points; and the more remote areas to the north or south depending on season and wildlife movement. Game drives extend from before sunrise to after sunset, with a midday rest during the heat of the day if desired.

Evenings in the Serengeti are extraordinary. Dinner by lamplight with the sounds of the African night — the whooping of hyenas, the grunt of a lion, the improbable beauty of the Milky Way overhead — is a memory that remains long after the journey ends. Overnight in a tented camp within or adjacent to the park.

4&5
DAY 6: Tarangire National Park — Land of Baobabs and Giants

The final day in Tarangire is both a privilege and a gentle farewell to the wild. The park's character is unique in the Northern Circuit: slower, quieter, dominated by the extraordinary presence of elephant families that number among Africa's largest concentrations. The baobab landscape creates natural frames for photography, and the Tarangire River corridor offers one of the finest wildlife-watching experiences in Tanzania.

Following your final game drive, you are transferred to Arusha for your onward connection — or, if you have arranged an extension, to Zanzibar for the beach escape that completes the perfect Tanzania journey.

THE GREAT MIGRATION — A NOTE ON TIMING

The Great Migration moves through different zones of the Serengeti ecosystem throughout the year. Between July and September, the spectacular river crossings occur at the Mara River in the northern Serengeti. Between January and March, calving takes place on the southern plains near Ndutu. Your JUA EXPLORER guide will interpret the migration’s current position and position you optimally. Please enquire about timing when booking.
